2 Cor 8

Things to learn from this chapter

  • We always give testimonies of other churches that can encourage our own church
  • We encourage our people to take a step further to give by grace
  • We encourage Gods people to complete what they start doing with consistency in love.
  • It is a greater blessing to give than receive even in poverty
  • Entrust finance to people who are trustworthy and in track record in their service , respected and look up by the churches and people.

Memory Verses

2 Cor 8:9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, though he is rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty becomes rich.

Matt 20:26-28
..Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to become first must be your slave, just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and gave his life as a ransom to many.

Tablet of The Heart

From Devotions chapter 3 and 4

I have a hard time going through these 2 chapters, took me almost 5 days of reading again and again. Repeatingly asking the Holy Spirit to teach me and guide me before moving on to the later chapters.

2 Cor 3:2-3
You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

The ministry of God, the church of God is not something that can be done by platforms, programs of in any form of organization. But however, till today, like the world, we often fall into the trap of developing structure, rules, guidelines and education. And we always miss the point. Transformation can only be done and enabled by the Holy Spirit for it is by the Spirit that lives can be changed. In today's world, many people are trapped by the law, even Christians. The law they so depend on brings death. But those who are lead by the Spirit receives life.

In Moses time, people followed the tablets of stone which they couldn't fulfill and they died. By now we keep dying with Jesus as we live, that He is revealed in us through our life. Where our life is the very evident of the letter written in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. So if I am not living out the life of Christ, it only means that i have not die to myself with Jesus at all. Than there is no room for Spiritual parenting at all.

And Spiritual parenting is this, is carrying the letter of Christ in our hearts and life. That the next generation of Christians can see in us, thus following our examples as disciple of Jesus. We need to understand that as Christians, we are Jesus representatives. As mentors, we are Jesus to them. To guide them and leading them into maturity in Christ.

I don't think we need to be strong that we can be used by God. But rather in our weakness where God is revealed through His mighty work that people see God, thus believing and trusting God in their own lives.

Pointers of Spiritual Parenting
  • It is not a platform or program, it is a life imparting ministry. Godly principles, values etc
  • No one grows effectively without a mentor and guidance.
  • People needs to be disciple and grow to maturity. And much attention is required until maturity stage.
  •  Mentoring is representing Jesus himself, absolutely important.
  • The love and grace of God must be evident in the mentors life.
  • Young believers cannot know and hear God by themselves, they need help and guidance.
  • Investment in spiritual lives is worth all the trouble and pain and time.
  • Is like a father taking care of a son, like a mother giving attention to a baby.
  • Like the world, children without parents are often handicap and lost.
  • When leaders of the church do not disciple Christians themselves, the church is malfunction already.

2 Cor 4

Therefore, as disciple of Christ, we renounced secret and shameful ways, to death of our past that is dead. Now we only share and proclaim Christ Jesus as it is without blemish before God himself. We do what we do for Jesus sake, and is made to suffering with Jesus, that others may benefit.

We speak by what we believe, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, and by the power of transformation done in our lives by the Holy Spirit. And that is true life that people need, and it is only by the grace of God. And because of this life, people can benefit and give thanks. The life of God spreads, and sin also spreads and destroy lives.

As Paul has written, the troubles and pain we go through for Christ is totally worth it. The rewards in heaven are way beyond what we know. We may need to invest a lot of time, effort, struggle and hard aches, that is what ministry is all about.

(Memory Verse)

2 Cor 4:16-18

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we do not fixed our eyes on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

James 1:2-8

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double minded man, unstable in all he does.

God of comfort

Memory Verse:
2 Cor 3-5

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Father of compassion and God of all comfort, who comforts in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as the sufferings of Chirst flows into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

Wonderful Grace of God

One thing true for people who loves God deeply, I believe are people who receive much grace from God. People who may have been the worst kind, but saved and transformed by the grace of God.

Luke 7:47 Therefore, i tell you, her many sins have been forgiven for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.

Rom 15:9-10
For i am least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the Church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, i worked harder than all of them- yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

I can really identify with what Paul says. Among the young adults, i am the worst, most feared and judge for who I am. But the grace and love of God gave me a new life, a life to serve him wholeheartedly.

How painful is this journey as i begin this new direction of reaching out to people and investing time on peoples life, hoping to pass on what God has pass on to me, what kor Hon have pass on to me. Cursed and persecuted by people who knew no love, be it Christians or non Christians.

As I minister to the woodlands youth, how burden I am. I feel their suffering and pain which many couldn't understand. Many have warn me, advised me, judge me for ministering to the opposite genders. As much as i have earnestly prayed, consistently look out for partners from church, there was none. What most offered are lip service. How much tears i have for these young people, how much burden i have for them, and how remorseful I felt when we neglected them for a few years. How sorry i felt when our adults and youths are not able to accept them.

Now that they fall into different kind of problems, sex, abuse, drinking, fights, abortion. I want to tell them how much God loves them, how much hope they may have in the Lord Jesus. And that is through my friendship and love for them. Giving all my best to withhold one of them to abort the child, for i know God can use it for his purpose. And surely, God desires no killing of that child! I was just as unworthy as these youths many people have perceive (ungodly, unworthy, filthy, immoral, not educated, not discipline, crooks). But because God showed me love and grace, I want them to experience this hope and joy as well.

Many times i get disappointed with many Christians, for all the laws they hold and self contentedness displayed out of self righteousness.
" If any Christian law cause me to fall short of love and saving lives in the name of God, i rather break them all. " Wolfy
And Rom 11:22 is a verse that affirms me, and keeps me on going. Its not about the program, service, rule or guideline, its all about love.

Memory Verse:
Rom 11:22
Consider the sternness and kindness of God: His sternness to those who fell, kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you will also be cut off.

Failing the Test of Love

Today i am writing an account of what happened yesterday. An area which i need to learn and be more careful.

I was doing devotion in the morning and God lead me to memorise 1 cor 13:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.

I though it is part of my learning journey that God wants me to memories verses. So i happily do it without knowing the application behind it.

That very evening when i was driving a group of brothers to badminton, among which a bro assumed that i will send him home. He is a brother whom ive been driving around for at least 2 years, a brother which i give my support during his bad times, when he ask for help i never hesitate to help. When he ask me to drive him home and i said that i'm going to play badminton, he got irritated and ask me to stop right in front to stop him. Basically i was very displease with his attitude towards me for treating me like a slave. He did not even ask of me to send him home in the first place, when i got fed up, he simply mention sorry and demand a forget it all. I got pissed off. I totally feel that it is not sincere and super self centered, considering the fact that ive drive him for so long and supported him in many ways. That he only considered him self. I got angry at him and tell him off. But after he apologised , he message me to claim that he has the right to be angry because i didnt tell him i'm playing badminton. And that he could have gone out with his girlfriend instead. How would one who needs a drive home, dont bother asking the driver for a ride and blames the driver for not asking him if he needs a ride home? How self centered! Will a friend do that to a friend? That's what i felt at least.

God lead me to revisit the verse today as i was doing my devotions. And for some reasons i read through what i memorised the day before. "it is not easily angered"... and i clearly hear God speaking to me. He was preparing me for what is going to happen, but i failed the test. In fact i got angry the first time for these 2 years. I prayed and ask God for forgiveness. Though he prepared, i did not make it. I felt remorseful before God. And these is a learning journey for me.

Despite that, i decided to keep my boundaries firm so that such people will not cross the line. Time and time again there will be people like these that takes advantage or abuse our kindness and friendship. Let me hear from God how to deal with such people and situation.

Memory verse for the day:
1 cor 14:1 - Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts...

Psalms 15

Things to learn from Psalms 15, for people who dwells in the Lord

  1. To live a blameless life
  2. One who speaks truth without slander
  3. who does not sin against people around him and is considerate to people
  4. Hates wicked but honors those who loves God
  5. Keeps a promise even when it requires sacrifice
  6. Lends money without benefits
Those who consistently keeps this practice, shall be firm in their faith and walk with God.

Memory Verses:
Pro 28:13-14
He who conceals his sins will not prosper,
but whoever confesses and renouces them will find mercy.
Blessed is the man who always fears the Lord,
but he who hardens his heart will fall into trouble.

Warrior for revival 1

Somethings that i wanna learn from this book "Warrior For Revival", to help me further understand my gifting and how to develop them. Also areas of my life which i need to becareful with.

Youths now are known to live without identity, principles or goals. Many Christian youths are no exception. Below are some things to take warning

Deut 18:10-13
Let no one be found you who sacrifice his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or cast spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

2 Thess 2:9, " The working of Satan with all kinds of power, signs, and lying wonders"

Emptying of our hearts can exposed our hearts to be inhabited by many devils (Matt 12:43-45)
43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”

Slave to sin makes us miserable.
Rom 6:16,21
Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

Why just we learn to give grace to  people even when they dont deserve it?
Because the Lord did that to me, i didnt deserve that grace, but he gave it to me any way- not just once, but every time. So i give the same grace i received from the Lord to others.

God permits satan to test those He planned to use (see job 1:8-12, 2:3-7; Luke 4:1)
Hence, as people went through a process of being changed by the Lord, he still struggles with sin. People don't change over night. It is a process that will take time, as repentance and the desire to know God worked in peoples heart.

Luke 7:47 How true is this that people who given more grace for their comes to love God even more.
47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”

Demons are evil that protects you when you are with them, or even fight for what you want, but when you are with God, they will turn against you. Now all kind of other gods or spirits starts to make sense, they give you wealth, health, power, healing doing all kinds of miracles, but when you are with Jesus, they will turn against you immediately. Something that i once felt when i was renouncing all kinds of evil spirits from my life. I remember that fearing moment after the prayer to renounce the ungodly vibes and spirits, they were angry and surrounded me. As i look into every humans face, i felt like i saw a demon looking at me. How they strangle me in my dreams, not allowing me to speak or move, pushing me down on the beds, giving me nightmares night after nights, and waking me up at 3am all the time. Like the author of the book, i totally can identify his fights with satan.

Now i know why Kor Hon borrowed me this book. Indeed, there is many things i can learn and apply from this book. Great! I'm going to finish this book by this week!
